The story of TimeBanks.Org

Founded by Dr Edgar Cahn, TimeBanks.Org has been changing lives since 1980.

While recovering from a severe heart attack, Edgar came up with the notion of timebanking as a response to Ronald Reagan's funding cuts for social programmes. Little did he know that he would ignite a global movement.

After Edgar's passing in 2021, TimeBanks.Org sought to replace their outdated timebanking software, which had fallen behind in adopting modern digital standards. They searched worldwide for a technology partner and found Made Open.

Eager to elevate Edgar's vision to new heights, we consistently review ways to improve our platform.

So when TimeBanks.Org invited us to replace their 'Community Weaver 3' software in 2022, we invested significantly in two key developments at our own expense. As a result:

  • Timebankers can now exchange time credits across a network of interconnected timebanks.
  • TimeBanks.Org can easily set up and manage new online timebanks using global templates.
