New features for the Made Open platform

Over the next couple of months, we’ll be working to implement some exciting new features across the Made Open platform. Watch this space! (Updated)

Launched This Week:

Users and groups can now add a poll to Made Open. Polls can be public (viewable to all in the main activity stream) or private (only viewable by a specific group). Users will be able to ask a question to the Made Open community, set up to 10 answers for users to choice and add a time period for the poll. Poll details and results can be managed via profile areas.

You can also invite your connections and groups to vote in a poll you’ve just created. So what are you waiting for? It’s time to see what your community thinks about issues that matter to you.

Launching in the next few weeks:

We’ll be adding a ‘task’ function for groups, so that a group admin can delegate tasks to their group members. The idea around this, is that tasks will be needed to either launch a project onto Made Open (users could help get project videos ready or write inspiring copy), but are likely to be more useful for groups that have successfully crowdsourced a project already on Made Open and will then be needed to make it happen!

Launched in last few weeks:

Users and groups can now add and manage events through the Made Open platform! Users will be able to add basic event details (such as an event description, date and time and location), post as a public or private group event. They will also be and set up ticket types and prices thanks to our eventbrite integration so events could be used as means of raising further funds for a community project.

Users can manage events through their profile, with the ability to edit basic event details and view attendee lists (attending, unable to attend and maybes). Tickets for events can be booked via the main activity stream and email notifications to attendees when they book a ticket and a reminder email will go out to all attendees when an event they are attending has less than 24 hours before its due to start.

-Extended groups-

This week we plan to launch our ‘extended groups’ functionality across the site. What this means, is that a group or organisation will be able to add a project, ask the community a question, pledge time, money or materials, add and like ideas.

-Private group projects-

As well as being able to add a ‘public project’ to the main activity stream, groups will soon also have the option to add ‘private projects’ and ideas within their group profiles. These projects and ideas will only be visible to group members. Group members will be able to add a private project to the group page, and group admins will have the ability to manage these.

-Navigation refresh-

As well as updating the navigation to accommodate for these new features, we’ll be making a few other small changes in response to some of the user feedback we’ve received.
